finally I'm painting the front room!!!

I am finally painting the front room!! The husband painted this room when we first moved in three and a half years ago and I never liked the brown. He told me no blue but this is almost a grey blue.
This is the dining room and the ceiling I finally finished after working on it for at least a year.

This is the current brown soon to be grey (blueish). Only $8 at Lowes...who can't paint a new room for that? And if you hate it...only $8.
Half way...on the first wall. I'm more of a quick, sloppy painter. You might not like it anyways, so why work too hard?

I finished it!

Here she is in her new dress (notice the sucker I had to give her in order to get her to put it on).

I even did button holes, which I haven't made in 10 years. I had to "practice" for too long, but I can now act like they're really easy.

this is how big it was...for a little bitty 3 year old it seemed like over kill.

just a reminder that the best friend of a sewer is the iron.

So I really finished it...and now Cora will not wear it.
over all I would say it was fun and turned out super cute...Eva wants several so I better get to work.

Cupcake Dress for Cora

Cora with the pattern for her new dress. The pattern is the Cupcake Dress by Pink Fig Patterns and comes in sizes 12 months to 10 years!! So I can make all the girls a dress...some day.

This is the top and it was pretty easy. I didn't do the smocking in the back because I didn't want to learn something new on a big pattern. I'll try sometime on a plain smocked top dress and NOTHING else, possibly a hem.
I try to take my time and now that I'm in my 30's it's getting easier but not that easy, so when I read the pattern and it said cut on the fold and gave dimensions. I felt that rapid heartbeat and slight frustration, only made worse when I asked my mom (who I have never seen sew in my life) and she told me exactly what it said but with an air of understanding that annoyed me. I fugured it out and I'm probably the only one in the world that had to think about it.

I even took my time and zigzagged my edges. That's why I'm still not finished after 3 days. But hopefully it will last longer than 2 washes. Some of you may know what I mean.
I had to walk away from the sewing machine tonight because the thread broke for the third time in ten minutes and I felt angry. But I am almost finished and I think it will be SUPER cute.
